Ad Manaurem 1762 – String Quartet Season 2026: A Week of Musical Excellence and Emotion
The 2026 string quartet season brought together three promising young ensembles – the Galilée, Norse (formerly Sostenuto) and Aiolos Quartets – for a week of masterclasses at the Château de La Marthonie in Saint-Jean-de-Côle, in the heart of the Périgord Vert.
Under the artistic direction of Johannes Meissl, Professor of Chamber Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), the young musicians enjoyed an inspiring week of intensive coaching, musical exploration and shared experiences.

Highlights of the week
From 23 to 30 August 2026, the Château de La Marthonie once again came alive with rehearsals, musical discoveries and lively exchanges. In the inspiring historic setting of the château, the three quartets had the opportunity to deepen their interpretations, refine their musical understanding and grow together as ensembles.
Beyond the daily coaching sessions, the week was filled with inspiring encounters, a shared passion for music and many memorable moments together.

The closing concert in Saint-Jean-de-Côle
The closing concert, held in the church of Saint-Jean-de-Côle, brought the week to a wonderful conclusion.
All three quartets captivated the audience with their talent, sensitivity and musical commitment. Among the evening's most moving moments was the Norse Quartet's performance of the Norwegian national anthem, dedicated to the memory of their late king. The Galilée Quartet delighted the audience with an unexpected finale, evoking the enchanting sounds of the Middle East.
It was an evening filled with music and emotion – one that will be remembered for a long time.
We express our deep gratitude to the talented photographers of the "Objectif Photo en Périgord Vert" association for capturing these precious moments throughout the week, and for graciously making their images available to us.

Ad Manaurem 1762 warmly thanks Professor Johannes Meissl for his teaching, his kind and demanding approach and his support of the students.
